I am Shanae, herbalist and founder of FLYEST, formally known as Ivy's Tea Co. I've been studying plant medicine for 6 years and drinking tea for nearly 30. My mother is British and my closest family is Jamaican - I came by my love of tea honestly. Over cups of tea with my mom and grandma, I learned about family, life, politics, and most important, myself. With Flyest, I want you to have the same conversations and create your own path to health, peace, and happiness on your terms. When I'm not playing with plants or sipping tea, I'm probably at the nail salon...nails gotta stay fly.

Most tea companies on the market are shoving some whitewashed version of wellness down our throats.
"Self-Care this" and "anti-aging" that.
The practice is soulless and unsustainable because it lacks authenticity.
We're inundated all day about health and wellness, how it looks, what it's like, and accessibility. For members of marginalized communities, these conversations exist entirely around us. We are consistently excluded, the result is we don't get the information we need to take care of ourselves until it's too late.
It’s just not fair.
I recognized a gap in the industry and decided to position FLYEST right there - a tea company that prioritizes herbal teas and representation, meeting tea drinking veterans and would-be tea drinkers right where they are.
A lot of what we know about wellness is closely tied to whiteness, making it exclusionary and not 100% true or effective.
That means, it can be challenged. We can change what we know about wellness and replace it with practices that are inclusive, diverse, and more true.
And that's what FLYEST is all about.
Together we learn more about herbs and how they work, not just the why.
For as much as we're sipping tea, we're talking about the folk medicine behind our favorite remedies and the scientific research that confirms what ancestral healers knew to be true. And we teach about the efficacy of plant medicine using Hip-Hop culture because it's more fun AND they're actually closely related.

Our teas are made in house in small batches with herbs and teas that are sourced from small herb farms and co-ops. The result? Good tea. Really good tea.
